The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) February 2026. CTET is the national-level qualifying examination for candidates who wish to become teachers in central-government and many other schools, and it is held in two papers — Paper I for classes 1–5 and Paper II for classes 6–8.
Online applications were open from 27 November 2025 to 18 December 2025. Candidates may appear for one or both papers, depending on the level at which they wish to teach.
Who can apply: eligibility follows the NCTE minimum qualifications for teachers — broadly, a senior-secondary / graduation qualification along with the relevant teacher-training course (such as D.El.Ed, B.Ed or equivalent) for the level concerned. A relaxation of up to 5% in qualifying marks is allowed for SC/ST/OBC/PwD candidates.
The application fee is ₹1,000 for General/OBC candidates for a single paper and ₹1,200 for both papers, and ₹500 / ₹600 respectively for SC/ST and differently-abled candidates. Qualifying CTET makes a candidate eligible to apply for teaching posts, though it does not by itself guarantee appointment.
