UP Anganwadi Bharti (यूपी आंगनवाड़ी भर्ती) is one of the most searched recruitments in Uttar Pradesh — and one of the most misunderstood. Unlike most government jobs, it has no single all-state exam and no single last date. This guide explains how it really works, who can apply, how the merit list is made, and how to avoid fake websites.
How Anganwadi recruitment works in UP
Anganwadi centres are run under the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) scheme by the Bal Vikas Seva evam Pushtahar Vibhag (Child Development Services and Nutrition Department), Uttar Pradesh. Vacancies arise centre by centre, so:
- Recruitment is district-wise. Each district publishes its own notice with its own vacancy list and dates. That is why one district may be accepting forms while another is not — the common question "आंगनवाड़ी भर्ती किन किन जिलों में है" depends on which districts have published notices.
- Each vacancy is for a specific centre in a specific village (rural) or ward (urban), and only local women can apply for it.
- Applications are online on the official UP Anganwadi recruitment portal, upanganwadibharti.in, during the dates set for your district.
Posts
- Anganwadi Karyakatri (worker) — runs the centre: pre-school education, nutrition, health check-ups and records for young children and pregnant and nursing mothers.
- Mini Anganwadi Karyakatri — runs a smaller centre.
- Anganwadi Sahayika (helper) — assists the worker; the minimum education required is lower.
These are honorarium-based posts under ICDS, not regular pay-scale government jobs.

District notices also give priority to women from poor families (for example those with an Antyodaya or BPL ration card) and to widows, divorced and destitute women. Read your district's notice for the exact order of preference.
How the merit list is made
There is normally no written exam. Applications for each centre are ranked on a merit list built from:
- Marks in your educational qualifications (High School, Intermediate and higher degrees, as the notice specifies), and
- Extra weightage for the special categories named in the notice.
The district committee verifies documents of the top candidates and publishes the selection list. Because ranking depends on marks, enter your marks exactly as on your marksheets — a mismatch found at verification leads to rejection.

- Check that your district has an open notice and that a vacancy exists for your village or ward.
- Open upanganwadibharti.in and register with your mobile number.
- Choose your district, project (block) and the centre you are applying for.
- Fill in your personal details, address and educational marks.

Beware of fake Anganwadi websites and calls
Because demand is huge, many websites and social-media pages copy the name "Anganwadi Bharti" and ask for registration fees or money for "confirmed selection". Remember:
- Apply only through the official portal or the district's official notice.
- No genuine official will ask for money to select you — selection is by merit list.
- Do not share OTPs or bank details with anyone who calls about your application.
